black smoke

This morning reminded me of the cultural difference between black women and white women. So this lady was crossing the street cigarette in hand as old as my mom. the trauma was not that she was smoking but the fact that unlike some other black women who used to smoke, she wasn't affected by the social stigma of a black 35+ woman smoking on the street. i guess in my head i always have in the back of my mind that i'll quit smoking when i hit a certain age, but i guess its other facters that change the decision to stop or to carry on like you're in your 20's. Firstly the supposed black traditionalist hubby that you're going to marry and suppose the fact that its shunned upon to smoke as a black woman. but hey to hell with social reform and all sorts of other restrictions that you're born with...
